The holiday season is just round the corner and you may have already made plans to go for long holidays. This is a common problem for many flyers. Whenever they go on long, destination holidays they tend to over-pack and as a result, the journey becomes uncomfortable and tense.
You have to worry about staying within the permitted luggage weight limit, you have to worry about keeping an eye on the luggage if you have too many and conveyance becomes a major cause of worry. That is why you should pack light without having to go without the essentials.
Why should you pack light for long travels?
There are a number of reasons:
Convenience: You can stay light and flexible. You won’t have to pay extra for checking in your luggage or carting them down to your car waiting outside. There is also greater security because you won’t have to part with a small backpack while checking in. There is also less chance of damage or forgetting to chug one along while coming back at the end of the holiday.
Reduced preparation: Many have the habit of packing at the last moment. If you have too much to pack. You would hurry and leave back essentials or misplace them. It also gets very hectic. Carrying a light bag means you don’t have to spend too much time on doing something which you dislike.
Have more space to shop locally and bring back souvenirs: You should always aim to source items that are easily available locally. That would probably cost you less than buying and carrying them from home. Also, intentionally keeping some space empty will give you the luxury of buying gifts and souvenirs for your friends and family while coming back from the holiday trip.
Tips that will help you pack light
Wear a rain jacket or a light coat or a jumper over your t-shirt or formal shirt and wear a pair of denims and your shades. Consider wearing a snicker, a sport shoe, a converse or a pair of light dress shoes. This will immediately spare some space in your carry-on luggage.
Carry your smartphone, adaptor/extension cord, a passport cover, a mini flash light, a neck pillow and your headphone.
Use separate duffels and shoebags from Koolkrew. You can pack your toiletries into one bag, your shoes (at most a flip-flop and a snicker, if you are already wearing your dress shoe), 2 or 3 pairs of jeans, 2 or 3 shirts, 2 formal trouser, 3 underwear and 3 pairs of socks. Carry a spare light party jacket if the place is a little cold (you are already wearing one). If it is very cold, you might carry your overcoat in your hand or wear it and pack a couple of heavy jackets into your suitcase.
Keep a travel size detergent, a wrinkle-free hat, a roll of tape, a hand sanitizer, your SPF sunscreen lotion, a small face and hand cream and travel-size makeup bag.
Carry a wind cheater and umbrella if space permits. Use Koolkrew folders to keep your documents (other than passport) and books organized. Traveling is fun but traveling light is blissful!
